HARFORD COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY HOSTS WRITERS CONFERENCE

(Belcamp, Maryland – August 28, 2013) Does everyone really have a book in them? Harford County Public Library is offering the community a chance to find out with the “Just Write” Writers Conference on Sunday, September 29 at the Bel Air Library. Successful regional authors will be leading workshops and discussion panels and working with community writers of all levels and genres. Participants will be able to attend five sessions lead by these established writers and be guided through the process of beginning a writing project, editing the work, and getting the book read.

Participating writers include bestselling mystery author Marcia Talley; television, novel, and memoir writer Tom Coyne; non-fiction bestseller McKay Jenkins; fantasy novelist Gregory Frost; editors Ben Yagoda and Bob Yearick; novelists and editors Barbara Esstman and Cruce Stark; marketing consultant and writer Sandra Bowman; and local author Vonnie Winslow Crist. Workshops cover subjects as far ranging as selling yourself and your book; how not to “write bad”; world building, plotting and character development; and getting your book into the marketplace. Also offered are opportunities to have work evaluated by one of the authors and spending lunchtime with a presenter.

$50 registration fee includes five workshop/panel sessions, lunch and snacks. Lunch with an author and manuscript critiques are an additional fee. Pre-registration is required. Workshops will be offered on a first come first serve basis so early registration is recommended. Check in begins at 8:00 am and workshops start at 9:00 am and run to 5:00 pm.
